A teenage girl was assaulted and taken to hospital after a man entered a flat in Helensburgh.
Police were called to the Hood Court area, after a man entered a property via an unlocked door and assaulted a 19-year-old at around 1am on Wednesday.
The woman was taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Paisley for treatment to injuries to her head and wrist.
Officers have launched a search for a man described as around 6ft in height, of heavy build, with a short scruffy brown beard.
During the time of the attack he was wearing an orange high-vis type jacket with a reflective line worn with the hood up.
DC Adam McCreery said: “Understandably, this attack has left the victim very shaken and I am appealing to anyone with information that could assist with our enquiries to get in touch.
“We are particularly interested in anyone who may have CCTV in the area, to check their footage between 11.30pm and 1.30am.”
