Teenage girl, 14, sexually assaulted at Kirkintilloch nature reserve as police hunt for suspect

Police have launched an investigation after a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at a nature reserve in East Dunbartonshire.

The schoolgirl was attacked at the Merkland Nature Reserve in Kirkintilloch at around 2.45am on Wednesday morning.

Officers attended the scene, and an investigation has now been launched.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.45am on Wednesday, July 29, we received a report of the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in the Merkland Nature Reserve, Kirkintilloch.

“Extensive enquiries remain ongoing, and anyone with concerns or information is encouraged to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0268 of July 29.”
