A teenage boy is in a serious condition in hospital after being struck down by a car in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire.
The 16-year-old was hit by a Renault Clio being driven by a 32-year-old man at around 8pm on Burnbank Road on Friday.
Emergency services attended and the teen was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
Hospital staff describe his condition as serious.
The driver of the car and his two passengers were uninjured, police said.
Officers have appealed to the public for information following the serious crash.
Sergeant Craig McDonald said: “Enquiries are continuing into the cause of the crash and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident who has not yet spoken to police to contact us.
“I am also keen to obtain any dash-cam from drivers who were in the area of Burnbank Road around the time of the crash.
“Anyone with information should contact Road Policing Officers through 101 quoting reference number 3491 of January 20.”
