A teenager has suffered a serious head injury following a large scale disturbance at a West Dunbartonshire park.
The incident occurred at around 3.30pm on Saturday within Balloch park close to the beach area.
A 19-year-old man suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment before being released.
The suspect is described as a male aged between 16 and 20.
Detective Constable Geoff McKillop from CID said: “There were hundreds of people within the park at the time of the incident.
“Some may have videoed or photographed the incident on mobile phones, and may have footage with important evidence on it.
“I am looking for anyone who witnessed the disturbance, and anybody that took videos or photos within the park at that time to get in touch by calling 101, quoting incident reference number 2454 of July 17.”
Chief Inspector Coleen Wylie, Local Area Commander said: “The recent sunny weather has brought many visitors to the Balloch area. We want people to enjoy themselves, but we ask that you do so safely. “
“Our public spaces are for everyone to enjoy. There will be an increased police presence in the park and surrounding area, and we continue to work with our partners in British Transport Police and West Dunbartonshire Council to reassure the public and encourage everyone to behave responsibly.
“Officers will take a robust approach to anti-social behaviour and I would like to remind the public that drinking in public places is not permitted. When out in the water do it safely and never after consuming alcohol.
“We ask everyone to enjoy themselves responsibly and to report any concerns by calling Police Scotland on 101.”
