A teenager is fighting for his life in hospital after a crash involving an e-scooter in Glasgow.

Police were called to a report of two people injured after their e-scooter crashed around 12.05am on Sunday on Holmbyre Road.

Emergency services attended and the males, aged 16 and 18, were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

The 16-year-old has since been released however the 18-year-old remains in a “critical” condition.

The road was closed while investigations were carried out and reopened around 6.20am.

Road Policing Sergeant Jim Dewar said: “We don’t believe at this time there was any other vehicle involved, however our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“I’d like to appeal to the public for help. Were you in the area around the time and witnessed what happened or perhaps saw the e-scooter before the crash?

“Do you have dashcam footage which has captured the e-scooter or anything else of importance? If you do, please get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0028 of February 23.
