A teenage driver has been charged over a murder bid after allegedly fleeing from the scene of a crash which left two police officers injured.

Officers approached and spoke to the occupants of a car on Fleming Way in Hamilton around 9.30am on Tuesday, before the car allegedly attempted to flee, injuring an officer.

The car then collided with a stationary vehicle a short distance away, injuring a second officer and the 22-year-old male passenger.

All three were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives arrested the 18-year-old male driver in connection with the incident.

He has now been charged in connection with attempted murder and road traffic offences.

He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Thursday.
