A teenage driver has been arrested after allegedly making off from the scene of a crash, which left two police officers injured.

Officers were engaging with the driver of a car on Fleming Way in Hamilton around 9.30am on Tuesday, before the car attempted to flee, injuring an officer.

The car then collided with a stationary vehicle a short distance away, injuring a second officer and the 22-year-old male passenger.

All three were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives have now traced the suspected 18-year-old male driver and arrested him in connection with the incident.

The teenager was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Fleming Way remains closed to allow for crash investigations.
