A teenager has been charged after allegedly being caught with offensive weapons in North Ayrshire.
The 19-year-old was taken into custody in the Montgomery Street area of Irvine on Friday evening while officers were patrolling as part of the Safer Shores initiative.
Police said he was found in possession of offensive weapons before being arrested.
He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court at a later date.
Police Scotland is urging anyone with information on criminal activity to get in touch.
Sergeant Will Thomson said: “As part of our Safer Shores initiative, officers are carrying out pro-active patrols to ensure public spaces in Ayrshire are safe for everyone to enjoy.
“This work will continue in our communities and any criminal or anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. Anyone engaging in such behaviour can expect enforcement action to be taken.
“Anyone with concerns is encouraged to report it to Police Scotland on 101, or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
