Police are investigating the rape of a 17-year-old girl in Greenock.
The alleged attack happened in the Belville Street area of the town on Friday, May 12.
A 16-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the incident.
He has since been released pending further enquiries as the investigation continues.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Saturday, 13 May, police received a report of a serious sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl in Greenock that allegedly took place on Friday, May 12, 2023.
“A 16-year-old male youth was arrested in connection with this alleged incident.
“He has been released pending further enquiries and the investigation is continuing.”
