A teenage boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of schoolboy Amen Teklay in Glasgow.

The 15-year-old was found with serious wounds believed to have been inflicted with a blade on Clarendon Street at around 10.30pm on Wednesday.

Emergency services attended however Amen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland launched a major investigation and said they were treating the death as murder following a post-mortem.

On Sunday, police confirmed a 14-year-old boy had been arrested and charged in connection with Amen’s death.

He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday charged with murder.

Court papers further state the boy and a 15-year-old boy, who was also arrested in connection with the death, face a separate assault charge.

The two teenagers made no plea when they appeared in private before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

An additional charge claims the 14-year-old was in possession of a knife in the city’s Dumbarton Road three days before the fatal attack.

The 15-year-old is accused of being in possession of a barrier pole at the same time or place.

The two teenagers made no plea and the 14-year-old was remanded in custody, while the 15-year-old was granted bail by Sheriff Jonathan Guy.
