‘I almost feel dead myself’
Amen’s family told STV News that they are in “shock and denial” following the 15-year-old’s death.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Amen’s sister, Delina Teklay, who travelled from London to comfort her father, said everyone is in “shock and denial.”
The 17-year-old said she first heard about her brother’s death when someone posted about it on Snapchat.
She told STV News: “They posted on Snapchat when I was in school, and I saw it and couldn’t believe it.
“They told me they were hacked because they didn’t want to tell me before I went home.
“It still felt like something was going on, so I left school and went home, and that’s when they told me.

“We still don’t believe it. Amen was a fun kid, always smiling and everyone loved him. So everyone was really sad with this news.”
Amen’s father told STV News: “I almost feel dead myself. Mentally I am not here. I am in shock and denial”.
Police said Amen’s relatives continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
Detective chief inspector Campbell Jackson said: “Our thoughts remain with Amen’s family and friends at this very difficult time. I would also like to thank the community for their support so far.
“Our investigation continues and I would ask anyone, who may have information which could help us and who has not yet come forward, to please contact us.”
Superintendent Christopher Stewart said: “We are continuing to support Amen’s family and continue to engage with the local community affected by this incident.
“There will continue to be a visible policing presence in the area and I would urge anyone with questions or concerns to approach a local officer – they are there to help.”
Tributes to ‘funny and bright’ boy
Tributes have been paid to the 15-year-old by Kingsway Community Connections – a community centre in Glasgow.
They said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of Amen Teklay.
“Amen was involved in our youth group and film group over the past year and was still receiving support from our staff until yesterday afternoon.
“He was funny, bright and enjoyed playing football, he loved pizza nights and taking part in a summer BBQ.
“Our memories of Amen are encapsulated in this film he made together with his friends where he talked about why attending the group was important to him.
“Amen developed great relationships with our team, and we are all devastated with his sudden death.
“We are providing support to Amen’s immediate family and our community as they come to terms with the loss of a son, friend and brother.
“We ask that you consider the thoughts and feelings of those grieving the loss of a young man who had his whole life still in front of him and respect the privacy of his family and friends at this deeply upsetting time.
“KCC would also like to extend our thoughts to the other support agencies who we know were supporting Amen before his death and give thanks to the emergency services who tried desperately to save his life.”
