Brendan Rodgers has named his Celtic side to face Bayern Munich, with Daizen Maeda in the side after his suspension was reduced.

Celtic face the Bundesliga giants in the first round of their Champions League play-off and were handed a boost when Maeda was ruled eligible to play after a successful appeal.

The Japanese attacker had initially been given a two-match ban for his sending-off in the victory over Young Boys.

But the club revealed on Monday that UEFA had reduced the suspension to one game on appeal.

That frees the in-form forward to start what is a huge game for the Scottish champions, with manager Rodgers having picked an attacking side to go up against elite opposition.

Kasper Schmeichel begins in goal, behind a back four of Greg Taylor, Auston Trusty, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alistair Johnston.

Callum McGregor captains the side and is joined in midfield by Reo Hatate and Arne Engels.

Maeda starts in attack alongside Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn.

Celtic’s substitutes are: Vijani Sinisalo, Scott Bain, Liam Scales, Anthony Ralston, Maik Nawrocki, Jeffrey Schlupp, Luke McCowan, Yang, Johnny Kenny and Jota.

The return match will be played in Munich next Tuesday, with the winner progressing to face Bayer Leverkusen or Atletico Madrid in the last 16 of the competition.
