A teacher has been struck off after having a sexual relationship with a former pupil and aiding him in escaping a murder bid.
Laura McEwan admitted to a string of allegations in a removal order from the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTC).
McEwan admitted to drinking with former S6 pupils and forming and maintaining a sexual relationship with a student shortly after he left the school in 2019.
In August 2020, the former pupil attempted to murder someone by stabbing them, and McEwan left the scene with him and allowed him to stay at her home.
She also asked a witness not to disclose her name and address to the police during their inquiries.
When the incidents took place, McEwan was previously employed in various positions by Glasgow City Council.
She worked as a teacher at Castlemilk High School and later as a faculty head at Drumchapel High School.
A Glasgow City Council spokesperson said: “The former teacher was suspended following allegations and resigned in September 2020.”
The GTC described McEwan’s actions as “dishonest and lacking in integrity”.
