A takeaway driver was robbed of food at knifepoint during a delivery in Glasgow.

The man was making a delivery in the Hamilton Road area of Cambuslang at around 11pm on Friday when he was approached by a man with a knife who threatened him and demanded that he hand over the food.

The driver then fled from the scene in what is being described as a “very distressing experience”.

Police are now searching for the suspect, who is described as being around 30 years of age, approximately 5ft 9in tall, with short brown hair and was wearing a light-coloured hooded top.

Detective Constable Heather Latta said: “Thankfully the victim was not injured during this incident, but it was a very distressing experience.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened, or noticed a man matching the description, to please get in touch.

“I would also urge anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam or private CCTV footage, which could assist the investigation, to come forward.”
