Two suspects are accused of holding a man hostage in the boot of a car after threatening him with a machete.

Carol Anne Craddock, 51, and Stuart McIntyre, 44, are said to have been involved in the crime in Irvine and Kilwinning, Ayrshire, on May 15, 2025.

It is claimed that the pair were masked along with other assailants when they entered a property and assaulted the man.

Prosecutors state knives and a machete were brandished at him, threats were made, along with demands for cash and a bank card.

Weapons were allegedly held against him before his watch was grabbed from his wrist.

It is claimed that the attackers seized bags, clothes, footwear, keys, a mobile phone and a bank card from the property.

The indictment then states the man was restrained, forced out and bundled into the boot of a car with fake registration plates.

It is said they did “detain him against his will”, leaving him in such “fear and alarm” that he decided to open the rear of the vehicle and fall out as it was being driven.

The man is described as being injured as a result of what happened.

Craddock and McIntyre, both of Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, face a separate charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

It is claimed they were involved in setting fire to the car in the woods in Dalry, also in Ayrshire.

They are further accused of having knives and a machete without lawful authority.

The pair had not guilty pleas entered on their behalf during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

A trial was fixed, and it is scheduled to start in January 2028.
