A suspect will stand trial later this year accused of killing a man at a village supermarket.
Cameron Young allegedly attacked Edward Mackin, 56, at the Co-op branch in Rosneath, Argyll and Bute, on November 26, 2020.
It is claimed the 36-year-old grabbed Mr Mackin by the shoulder, pushed down his head and pinned him to the ground.
The indictment further alleges Young threatened him and pushed the man again, causing him to fall and strike his head on the pavement.
Prosecutors state Mr Mackin was so severely injured that he died.
Young faces a separate accusation that he later got a man to take him to Kilcreggan before he boarded a ferry to Gourock, both also in Argyll and Bute.
This was said to have been done to avoid “detection and interview” for the alleged killing.
On Tuesday, defence agent Victoria Young pled not guilty on his behalf to the charges of culpable homicide and attempt to pervert the course of justice during a brief hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.
The advocate also lodged a special defence of self-defence.
Lady Scott fixed a trial due to begin in November.
Young, also of Rosneath, remains on bail.
