A man has been arrested from a dinghy after fleeing the scene of a disturbance at a harbour in Greenock, where a police officer was allegedly assaulted.
Police were called to reports of concern for a man in Greenock around 2.05am on Sunday.
Officers attended and searches were carried out before a man was traced in the East India Harbour area.
A disturbance unfolded, and a police officer was assaulted.

The suspect then made off in a dinghy from the harbour.
The injured police officer was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and kept in overnight for observation.
A major police operation was launched before a man was subsequently arrested from a dinghy at Rhu Marina near Helensburgh.
A large police presence was reported at the scene, including forensics, Police Scotland’s Dive and Marine Unit, a police helicopter and the canine unit.

Coastguard were also pictured at the scene.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Enquiries are continuing.”
