Man charged with attempted murder following attack on bus

A man has been charged with attempted murder following an attack on a Lanark bus.

Officers were called after a 35-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy boarded a bus in Thornton Road, Kirkmuirhill and were attacked at around 11.10pm on Friday July 26.

The man and the teen were taken to hospital with “serious” injuries and police launched an appeal following the attack to help trace the suspect.

On Friday, the force confirmed that a 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder on a 35-year-old man as well as serious assault on a 15-year-old boy.

The man is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on August 12, and a report is set to be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
