A suspect has been charged in connection with a fatal flat block fire which killed a woman in Paisley last year.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service dispatched four fire appliances and one height vehicle to Barterholm Road at around 11pm on April 6, 2025, to tackle a ground blaze at the four-storey building.

Seven ambulances, three special operations response teams, two paramedic response cars, a critical care paramedic and a trauma team were sent to the scene.

Three patients were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, two patients were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, and two patients were taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Two other people received treatment at the scene.

A 38-year-old woman died of her injuries in hospital three days later.
