Suspect charged after 'man seen with weapon' near Glasgow subway station

Police have charged a suspect after a man was allegedly seen with a weapon near a Glasgow subway station.

Emergency services were called to St Enoch Square, near the subway station, on Wednesday at around 6pm .

Officers arrested and charged a 34-year-old man with a number of offences, including attempting to pervert the course of justice, culpable and reckless conduct, resisting arrest, possession of an offensive weapon and police assault

A report is due to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 in St Enoch Square, Glasgow, a 34-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with attempting to pervert the course of justice, culpable and reckless conduct, resisting arrest, possession of an offensive weapon and police assault.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
