Suspect charged after Audi 'driven at man before crashing into building'

A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the disturbance.

A man has been charged after a car was deliberately driven into a building in an alleged murder bid in East Dunbartonshire.

Police were called to the report of a disturbance in the early hours of Sunday morning after an Audi Q7 was deliberately driven at a man and crashed into a premises on Spey Road in Bearsden.

There were no reports of any injuries following the incident and the driver of the Audi and a passenger left the scene.

A 40-year-old man has since been arrested and charged in connection with the disturbance, and is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday.

Police said enquiries to determine the circumstances of the incident are “ongoing”.

Detective sergeant Nick Gribben said: “No one was injured and our enquiries are ongoing to trace those involved.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw or heard anything suspicious, to come forward.

“It is important we gather as much information as possible, and any small detail could prove vital.

“I am also keen to speak to anyone with dashcam or private CCTV footage.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0710 of Sunday, November 19, 2023. Alternatively, you can pass your information to Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.”
