A man has been arrested and charged after a serious assault in Annan.

Police were called to the Moat Road area around 5.25am on Sunday morning after a 35-year-old man was left with injuries to his head, leg and arm.

The man was rushed to hospital and an investigation was launched.

Officers later confirmed that a 22-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection to the incident.

He appeared at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Detective inspector Graeme Robertson said: “We continue to make enquiries into the assault, and I again appeal to anyone with information about what happened to come forward.

“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0817 of Sunday, October 8, 2023. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
