A street was locked down and negotiators called in following an alleged assault in Glasgow.

Police said they received a report of a man being attacked within a shop in Leithland Road, Pollok, shortly after 9pm on Sunday.

The man was taken to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and released after treatment.

Two men, aged 21 and 26, were traced at an address in nearby Kempsthorn Place.

Officers, assisted by negotiators, attended and taped off the street.

The two suspects were then arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.05pm on Sunday, August 1, police received a report of an assault on a man within a shop on Leithland Road, Pollok.

“The injured man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and released after treatment.

“Two men, aged 21 and 26 years, were traced at an address in Kempsthorn Place following the assault.

“Officers assisted by negotiators attended and they were both arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

“They are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday. 

“A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
