A school in Dumfries and Galloway was locked down on Tuesday after reports of knife threats allegedly being made.
The incident occurred within the Stranraer Academy grounds at around 12.10pm after an individual claimed to have a knife in their possession.
The building was closed for ten minutes, and emergency services were called to the scene.
Officers attended and no one was injured during the incident. A 14-year-old boy was charged in connection with the incident.
He is due to be reported to the relevant authorities.
A Dumfries and Galloway Council spokesperson said: “We can confirm an individual was making threats of having a have a knife in their possession Stranraer Academy grounds on Tuesday, November 11.
“The Police were called and the school was placed in a temporary lockdown of less than ten minutes until the police and staff dealt with the situation. It was suitably defused and school returned to ‘normal’ within ten minutes of the incident.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Around 12.10pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, we received a report of a disturbance in the McMaster’s Road area.
“Officers attended and no injuries were reported.
“A 14-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged in connection, and a report will be submitted to the relevant authorities.
“There was no risk to the wider public as a result of the incident.”
