A staff member at a Glasgow care home has tested positive for coronavirus.

Wyndford Locks, in Maryhill, has now been closed to all non-essential visitors.

Care home operator HC-One said all necessary measures are being taken to minimise the risk of infection to other colleagues and residents.

The worker, who began to self-isolate immediately after testing positive, is said to be asymptomatic and is doing well.

A spokesperson for the home said: “Following one colleague testing positive, we are taking the necessary precautions to minimise the risk of transmission to other colleagues and residents.

“This includes closing the home to non-essential visitors and facilitating whole-home testing of all residents and colleagues with public health as a priority.

“The affected colleague began isolating immediately following the positive result, and we wish them a speedy recovery.

“We are working closely with our local health and care partners and are in regular contact with the next of kin of our Residents at Wyndford Locks to keep them updated of the situation.”
