The collision between junctions 29 and 30 were blocked due to a collision involving six vehicles after midday on Saturday.
There were no apparent serious injuries as all vehicles were moved to the hard shoulder.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers responded to a six-vehicle crash at Junction 30 of the M8 Westbound around 12.10pm on Saturday, August 17.
“All vehicles were moved to the hard shoulder and a lane was briefly closed to allow for recovery.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
