Six young kittens suffering from an infestation of fleas have been found dumped by the side of the road in South Lanarkshire.

A member of the public discovered the cats, thought to be around six weeks old, in a pet carrier on Auchinraith Road in Blantyre on Monday morning.

The kittens were taken to a nearby vet, as it was unknown how long they had been in the cold and without food.

The cats were then placed in the care of the Scottish SPCA.
