Six charged after £750k cannabis farm uncovered near supermarket

Six men have been arrested and charged after a cannabis cultivation worth £750,000 was discovered within a property across from a Morrisons supermarket in East Ayrshire.

The cultivation was found after police executed a search warrant at a property on West Langlands Street in Kilmarnock at around 10am on Wednesday.

Six men, aged 20, 23, 23, 32, 36 and 36 were arrested and charged with drug offences after the discovery was made.

They are due to appear at Kilmarnock Court on Thursday.

Detective sergeant Terry McEwan of the Ayrshire Proactive Crime Team said : “One of main priorities is removing drugs from our streets. I would ask anyone with any information about drug activity in their area to report this to us so that we can investigate thoroughly.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
