Sir Billy Connolly reveals exhibition celebrating his life and career is coming to Glasgow

Sir Billy Connolly has revealed that a new exhibition celebrating his life and career will be coming to Glasgow next year.

The legendary actor and comedian appeared in a video posted by the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, where he shared his excitement about the new exhibition.

He said that visitors can explore his life, clothes and comedy and, most importantly, “have a laugh.”

Sir Billy praised Kelvingrove, calling it “the most extraordinary place” and gave a shout-out to the food options available there.

“A very dear place in my heart. When I think of it, I think of Salvador Dali, and how you arrive at Billy Connolly from that, I don’t know.

“But if you’re bored with it, there’s a special restaurant there, they have the best chips in town. Be my guest, come along.”

Details about the new exhibition at Kelvingrove remain under wraps, though it is due to open in June next year.

A Glasgow Life spokesperson said: “We’re very excited to be working on this fabulous exhibition for the city.

“What could be better than celebrating a Scottish national treasure, Sir Billy Connolly, in Glasgow’s very own treasure trove, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum?

“We look forward to sharing more details soon about the opening date and what you’ll get to see in the exhibition. Watch this space.”

Sir Billy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease back in 2013, and stepped away from live stand-up five years later.

However, the 83-year-old has remained active, participating in several television productions over the past few years and continuing his work as a visual artist.
