A shop worker has been left injured after he was attacked during a robbery in Clydebank.
The 61-year-old man was working in the shop on Mountblow Road when a teenage boy entered and stole a number of items on Thursday afternoon.
When the employee made an attempt to retrieve the items from the young thief he was assaulted.
After assaulting the man the teenager ran off with a number of stolen items.
The victim suffered minor injuries and was left shaken as a result of the incident.
Police are now appealing for information to the incident that took place at around 4.20pm.
Officers are now looking to trace the person responsible, who is described as being around 16-years-old with blond hair.
At the time of the robbery he was wearing a black hoody and grey jogging bottoms.
Detective Constable Colin Nichol, from Clydebank CID, said: “This was a particularly distressing incident for the victim, who was attacked for trying to prevent the youth from leaving with stolen goods.
“We are appealing to anyone who was in the Montblow Road area around the time of the robbery and witnessed anything suspicious to please come forward.
“Equally, if you recognise the description of the youth or have any further information, we are keen to speak with you.”
