Sheep killed in suspected dog attack at farm as police appeal for witnesses

A sheep was killed in a nearby field during the time period and it is suspected a dog was responsible.

A sheep has been killed in an incident police are treating as a suspected dog attack in Dumfries.

Officers are seeking out members of the public who were walking near Craigieburn Farm in Moffat between 11am on Tuesday, August 13 and 8am on Wednesday, August 14.

A sheep was killed in a nearby field during the time period and it is suspected a dog was responsible.

A Police Scotland statement read: “Were you walking near the area of Craigieburn Farm, Moffat, between 11am on Tuesday, August 13 and 8am on Wednesday, August 14 2024?

“There was an incident where a sheep was killed in a nearby field between these times and it’s suspected a dog may have been responsible for the attack.

“If you have witnessed anything suspicious or have any information in relation to this incident, please contact 101, quoting reference number CR/0299498/24.”
