A sex attacker who raped two schoolgirls has been jailed for four years.

Oliver Barrie preyed on the victims when he was also a teenager.

The now 22-year-old also punched the girls on the body at times they believed they may be pregnant.

Barrie has been sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow.

He had earlier been convicted of assaulting and raping the victims in Ayr, South Ayrshire, between 2013 and 2015.

Lord Richardson told him: “The offences were horrific inflicting both pain and trauma on these young women.

“It is apparent that your actions have had a significant and continuing impact on their lives.

“These offences were very serious and must be dealt with by a significant custodial sentence.”

Barrie, also of Ayr, was put on the sex offenders list indefinitely.

The victims – who had both been in relationships with Barrie – were aged between 13 and 16 during the crimes.

One later needed therapy while the other stated the attacker had also cheated on her with 26 different people.

Barrie’s lawyer Jennifer Bain said: “The court heard from him in evidence and that he denied the allegations.

“This remains his position. “He recognises now how immature he was at the time of the offences.”

The advocate added a number of relatives, friends and his current partner had written references on his behalf.

This included his father, who he works for although it was not stated what the job is. Lord Richardson later remarked Barrie was “fortunate” to have their support.
