Seven more charged over Celtic title party disorder as number of arrests hit 50

A further six men and one woman have been charged over disorder at the Celtic title party following their Premiership title win.

Two officers were seriously injured, and three members of the public needed hospital treatment after thousands of supporters descended on the Trongate area of Glasgow to celebrate Celtic’s win over Hearts on May 16.

Bottles and pyrotechnics were thrown at officers during what has been described as “horrific scenes”.

Police have arrested and charged seven further people in connection with various offences, including assault, possession of an offensive weapon, culpable and reckless conduct and breach of the peace.

The six men, aged 17, 18, 33, 35, 43 and 45, and a 28-year-old woman are due to appear in court at a later date.

The total number of arrests relating to incidents on the day is now 50.

Investigations remain ongoing to identify those responsible for the criminality at Parkhead, as with those involved in disorder in Glasgow’s Trongate area following the game.
