Seven men have been charged after police seized a £150,000 cannabis farm on Kilmarnock’s high street.

Officers discovered the cultivation within a derelict building in King Street after receiving reports of “suspicious activity” around 4am on Thursday.

Police said enquiries into the recovery are “ongoing” and said that plants found in the building have an estimated street value of £150,000.

The seven men are due to appear before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Seven men have been arrested and charged in connection with the recovery of a large cannabis cultivation within a derelict building in King Street, Kilmarnock.

“Officers made the discovery after being called to a report of suspicious activity in the area around 4am on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

“Enquiries are ongoing to confirm the total value of the recovery however the plants found within the building have an estimated street value of up to £150,000.

“The seven men are due to appear before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, March 8, 2024, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
