Police are appealing for information after a man was found seriously injured on a road in Alexandria.
The 40-year-old man was discovered lying on the road on Bridge Street, near the roundabout leading to the B857, around 1.40am on Saturday.
He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, where his condition has been described as serious but stable.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area on Saturday morning to come forward.
Detective constable Andrew Baldacci said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident, how he came about his injuries and if any crime has taken place.
“I would urge anyone who was in this area on Saturday morning who witnessed anything important to our enquiry to please contact us. I would also ask any drivers with dash-cam or anyone with personal footage, to review it and please contact us if it holds anything relevant.
“Information can be passed to 101 quoting reference number 0329 of August 2.”
