Two people were rushed to hospital after a serious crash between a car and a pedestrian in South Ayrshire on Wednesday.

At around 7.25pm on January 24, a pedestrian – a 39-year-old woman – was struck on the A77 southbound near Holmston roundabout in Ayr by an Audi A3 being driven by a 69-year-old man.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian and the driver were both taken to Crosshouse Hospital. 

The driver of the Audi was later released.

Police are now appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Constable Stuart MacArthur said: “Our investigation into the crash is continuing.

“I would urge any witnesses, or anyone driving on this stretch of road around the time of the crash who may have information or any dash-cam footage to contact us through 101 with reference number 3286 of January 24.”
