Security guard faces robbery bid during bank cash delivery

A security guard has been targeted in an attempted robbery while delivering money to a bank in Glasgow.

The G4S worker was in the foyer of a Lloyds TSB bank on Duke Street when he was targeted by two men on Friday morning.

The men made an attempt to grab a case full of money he was carrying.

However, the 59-year-old managed to keep a hold of the case and the men were forced to flee empty-handed.

They were last seen getting into a grey VW Golf parked across from the bank before driving off in the direction of Armadale Street.

The security guard was not injured in the incident.

Detective inspector Clark Hill said: “We are gathering CCTV footage from in and around the area as it will provide us with additional detail on the suspects, the car and the driver of the getaway vehicle.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries into this crime and I am appealing to the public for any information which could help us trace the men responsible for this crime as soon as possible.”
