A section of the M8 is to be closed to allow for essential site investigations.

The works will be carried out at the Hillington interchange in Glasgow from August 18 to August 22, resulting in the overnight closure of the eastbound and westbound carriageways.

The investigations are being used to inform future safety improvements that are due to be implemented in the Autumn.

The diversions for road users are as follows:

  • Eastbound traffic will be directed to exit the M8 at Junction 26 and follow Hillington Road, Renfrew Road, Shieldhall Road and Helen Street to re-join the M8 eastbound at Junction 24.
  • Westbound traffic will be directed to exit the M8 at Junction 25A (Braehead) and follow Old Govan Road, King’s Inch Road and Hillington Road to join the M8 westbound at the Junction 26 on-slip.
