M8 closed after vehicle catches fire as drivers warned of delays

Emergency services were called to Junction 26 after 1.45pm on Thursday.

A vehicle on fire has forced a section of the M8 in Glasgow to close.

Traffic Scotland confirmed Junction 26 at Hillington was closed in both directions due to a vehicle on fire.

Emergency services were called to the scene after 1.45pm on Thursday.

Road users are advised to use alternative routes.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.35pm on Thursday, 12 June, to reports of a vehicle fire on the M8 near Hillington Interchange.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances, and firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

“There were no reported casualties, and one fire appliance remains in attendance.”
