Second man in court charged with murder after shooting

A 50-year-old man was charged in connection with the death and appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

A second man has appeared in court charged with murder after a shooting in North Ayrshire.

Police were called to a house in Nithsdale Road in Ardrossan on Sunday, where Paul Cairns was found with serious injuries.

The 42-year-old died at the scene a short time later.

A 50-year-old man was charged in connection with the death and appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Martin Crawford was charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

It comes after another man appeared in court on Tuesday in connection with the incident.

James Ferguson was also charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

The 42-year-old made no plea and he too was remanded in custody.
