A second person has been charged following the death of a man in a common close in Renfrew.

Alastair Campbell, 52, died shortly after he was found injured in a common close of flats on Renfield Street at about 3am on Monday October 30.

James Cook, 47, was charged with murder and attempted robbery when he appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Friday.

He made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

Police have now confirmed that a 35-year-old man has also been arrested and charged in connection with the death. 

He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Wednesday, November 8.
