A second man has now been charged in connection with a shooting in North Ayrshire.
Police were called to a house in Nithsdale Road in Ardrossan on Sunday afternoon where Paul Cairns was found with serious injuries.
The 42-year-old died at the scene a short time later.
On Tuesday, James Ferguson was charged at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The 42-year-old from Kilwinning made no plea and was remanded in custody.
On Wednesday, officers revealed that a 50-year-old man had been arrested in connection with Mr Cairns’ death.
Later on, the force confirmed that he has now been charged and is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday.
