A second man has been charged after another died during a disturbance in Rutherglen.

Stuart McGeachie was assaulted outside a premises on Farmeloan Road, at its junction with Victoria Street, on the evening of Tuesday, October 24.

The 38-year-old then made his way to a nearby flat where he was pronounced dead.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with his death.

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, November 10.

It comes after Callum David Cummins Summers, 27, was charged with assault, two counts of carrying offensive weapons and murder.

He appeared in court on Monday where he made no plea, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. 

Detective Chief Inspector John Morrison said: “Our thoughts remain with Stuart’s family and friends at this very difficult time. We would like to thank the public for their help so far with our enquiries.

“Our investigation continues and we appeal for anyone who may have information which could help us, who has not yet come forward, to please contact us.”
