Commuters across Glasgow are facing a second day of disruption after engineers were unable to fix a signalling fault overnight.
The fault between Partick and Charing Cross was first identified after 7am on Thursday with journeys cancelled, delayed and revised throughout the day.
Passengers on services to Balloch and Airdrie, between Helensburgh Central and Edinburgh and from Milngavie and Cumbernauld via Motherwell are affected.
Some trains were forced to run at reduced speeds, with engineers on site at Finnieston after identifying the problem.
ScotRail said staff worked through the night to resolve the issue due to a volume of trains still running.
However, Network Rail confirmed on Friday morning Glasgow Queen Street low-level services will be delayed throughout the day after the fault could not be fixed.
A Network Rail post read: “Despite working through the night, our engineers haven’t been able to fix the signal fault between Partick and Charing Cross, meaning Glasgow Queen Street low-level services will be delayed throughout Friday.
“We’re working with ScotRail to keep disruption to a minimum.
“We’re sorry if your journey is affected; we know how frustrating this is. Our signalling and track teams are meeting to discuss our next steps.”
ScotRail posted on Friday morning: “Due to a signalling fault services operating from Partick towards Glasgow Central Low Level / Glasgow Queen St Low Level will be delayed and may be revised.
“Services between Milngavie and Springburn are suspended in both directions.”
