A multi-agency search was launched on Friday evening after a woman was spotted entering the River Leven.

A search has resumed for a woman who was spotted entering a river in West Dunbartonshire.

Police received a report that a woman was spotted in the River Leven in Dumbarton at around 9pm on Friday.

A multi-agency search response was launched, involving the Air Support Unit, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Coastguard.

However the woman was not traced.

Searches resumed on Saturday morning with assistance from the Air Support Unit.

The woman is described as white, 6ft tall, with long brown hair and a cross tattoo on her left shoulder. She is believed to have been wearing dark jeans, a dark top and black trainers with white soles.

Anyone who was in the area at the time or who has seen someone matching the description above since is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3678 of September 19, 2025.
