Police in North Lanarkshire have launched a search for a “vulnerable” teenage boy who has been missing overnight.

Cameron Notman, 15, was last seen leaving his house in Airdrie’s Howletnest Road at around 5.15pm on Wednesday.

He did not say where he was heading to, and he has not returned home.

The teen, who is around 5ft 10in, was wearing light-coloured grey jogging bottoms, a grey-coloured hooded top and Nike trainers.

Chief inspector Gillian Norrie said: “Cameron has been feeling low lately and his family and police are very concerned for his wellbeing and safety.

“He has never went missing before and it is extremely out of character for him not to keep in contact with his family.

“Cameron frequents the Craigneuk and Petersburn areas of Airdrie and officers have been carrying out enquiries and searches for him and are being assisted by specialist search advisors.

“They have been speaking to people in the local area and gathering and studying CCTV footage to gain more detail on where he may have went.

“Cameron has previously visited Edinburgh and he has family in the Northumberland area, so we are liaising with British Transport Police and police colleagues in those areas to carry out further enquiries.”

If you have seen Cameron, call 101.
