Police are working to establish if Robert Campbell, 44, returned to the UK after being last seen heading to Lanzarote airport.

Search launched for man from Uddingston who disappeared following holiday in Lanzarote Facebook

A search has been launched for a man who has been reported missing following a holiday in Lanzarote.

The family and friends of Robert Campbell, from Uddingston, have launched an appeal for information after he was last seen heading to César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport on Thursday.

The 44-year-old has been described as “vulnerable” and ended up separated from a friend he was due to fly home with.

Police Scotland confirmed he has been reported missing, and are working to establish if he returned to the UK on a different flight.

In a post on social media, a loved one wrote: “Robert was last seen heading to Lanzarote airport on May 11.

“He was on holiday with his best friend and they ended up separated due to Paddy taking unwell. Police Scotland initially stated Robert used his passport to enter Edinburgh but it has now been confirmed this is not the case by police, his friends and family.

“Please if you’re out there or members of any Lanzarote groups please share it.

“Robert is vulnerable and potentially lost in a foreign country, this is his first time abroad so he is maybe unsure of what he needs to do to get home.”

A police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that he has been reported missing to us and that enquiries are still ongoing to trace him.

“Officers are still carrying out enquiries to establish whether he has returned to the UK.”
