A search has been launched to find a missing hill walker who disappeared while climbing a mountain more than 24 hours ago.

The woman was last seen near the summit of Ben Challum, near Crianlarich, on Sunday afternoon, after she got separated from a fellow walker.

Police are now searching the area with assistance from Killin, Tayside, the Ochil and Lomond Mountain Rescue Teams.

Officers believe the missing woman, who hasn't been named, may have made her way down to the A82 near Kirkton Farm.

She is wearing a blue jacket, black waterproof trousers and a hat and carrying two walking poles and a navy rucksack.

Inspector Andrew Bushell said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned about this walker. I would urge anyone out on the hill on Sunday and today who many have heard or seen something that will help us find her to get in touch.”

“Anyone with information should call us immediately on 101, quoting incident number 2785 of Sunday, 22 December.”
