A search has been launched after a car, with a cloned number plate, fled from officers in North Lanarkshire on Wednesday.
At around 6.50pm police signalled a white Audi S3 to stop on the A8 between Bargeddie and Eurocentral, however, it made off at high speed.
Detectives believe the vehicle joined the M8 and travelled west on the eastbound carriageway near Junction 7.
Efforts are now being made to trace the car and the driver.
Constable Andrew Stenhouse said: “As officers signalled the car to stop, it made off at high speed and we are carrying out enquiries to trace the vehicle and its driver.
“From our enquiries we believe the Audi, which was displaying a cloned registration plate, was in the Bargeddie area on Wednesday evening. After it was signalled to stop, it joined the M8 and travelled west on the eastbound carriageway near to junction 7 at Eurocentral.
“We urge anyone who witnessed this vehicle driving dangerously, or if you saw anything suspicious in this area on Wednesday evening which could be related to this incident to please get in touch. Anyone with information or dash-cam footage which may assist our investigation is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101 quoting reference number 2466 of October 29.”
