Detectives are investigating a “serious incident” of attempted robbery in Alexandria and are appealing to trace a potential victim.
On Thursday around 11am a man is believed to have approached another man who was withdrawing money from at ATM on Main Street.
An altercation then occurred, and it is believed money was stolen in the incident.
Two women who disturbed the incident have also been urged to contact police.
Detective constable Craig McGarry said: “Since this incident was reported we have made efforts to trace both the apparent victim and suspect involved in this incident.
“Whether cash was stolen or not, what has been reported is a serious incident. We are keen to trace the persons involved promptly so that we can fully understand what has happened.
“I’d ask anyone with information, or the women who are believed to have seen what happened, to come forward and speak with officers.
“Those with information should contact Police Scotland via 101 and quote incident number 1196 of October 12. An anonymous report can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
